Christian Guemy aka C215 has walked miles and miles spreading worldwide his unique stencils. Where he goes, he leaves a mark. I think he has started meeting people, lands, feelings... he has been a witness to apparitions and requests. Then his special creations have appeared in the streets of the world: these are open visions, full of depth and respect, placed on walls and stone houses, crevices through which our sight enters with curiosity. Starting almost ten years ago from Vitry, a town in the countryside of northern France, C215 has never visited museums, festivals and art fairs. In some way he is like a gypsy, devoted to explore deeply places where he just goes, in some other he is an anthropologist, approaching with respect to people and spaces.
Then, mixing photography and stencil art, he creates a cozy universe of colors, emotions and relationships, bringing photography to a more representative and intimate level.
C215 will arrive in Milan this week, where several of his works are already on the streets, then in Carugate, on Saturday, February 4, dealing with two walls of UrbanPainting Gallery, which has opened its doors in January 2012. An experimental space, designed by Luigi Mauri and Tatiana Belluzzo in order to host artists who work mainly outdoors.
Not a real exhibition then, but rather a little show, a 'meet the artist' event.
Each one of Guemy's portraits are carefully looked after, while still it is the result of a fair amount of improvisation.
As you can imagine that behind that there a specific plan relies, anyway is to understand taht instinct has always the last word on everything.
