RYAN SPRING DOOLEY for URBANPAINTING XMAS SHOW

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZTa_eQPdXY

Creating a new work for the Urban X mas show in Milano I attempted as we all do as best we can to explain the dynamic of painting spontaneously in groups or on our own in the streets by leaving a canvas on the ground for children to paint in Naples Italy and then completing it with paste ups and additional refinement while sketching in the street. This was an experiment that hopes to explain or get closer to my opinion and enthusiasm of line while working symultaneously in the streets and on canvas. The animation seemed a good meaning to express the process of painting and the particulare energy and line in Street interventions. This experience lead me to reflect on the intent, energy and signifigance of Street Art, at least in my personal research and awareness of the amazing international phenomenon. I think the highly developed graphics and perfect detailed stencils are astounding but believe the most fascinating thing about graffiti/Street Art or drawing on stuff in general to be the political gesture. I say political not in the contemporary money sense, but in the Polis sense. We tend to exist under fixed themes that never alow us to say a word. We tend to give amazing amounts of energy and credit to total bullshit. Our fascination with death and violence, for one, is a proxy used to hold everyone to their seats and sets until they win the lotto or cash that retirement. I think the self centered dogmas used in many forms of communication are tied to the structure of the word and not the world. Sometimes seeing your space invaded by Changes; tags, mosquitoes or global warming, can get you off the word. Get you off the syntax and all its rhetorical complaining, get you into action. I am not refering to the cash and carry or the big punches. Beauty has never been an explosion or a contract so we the earning principles are worth more than financial speculation. This is why I like Street Art/ Graffiti, or general drawing on stuff. I like it because it often works for itself without violence like a strong individual, not like an ashamed poet or the wrash decisions of industry. I think that Street Art exists because of the strong Women and Men that were asking a lot of questions in the demonstrations I witnessed as a child. I think that any youth culture exists because we want to fly around and boogie down, not win the contest or the war. I think people are fond of each others thoughts and talents in a unique way that can be better explained and balanced spontaneously. I think it's a lot of fun to do things because you love them and this should never lead to shame, worry, or criminality. If such a movement means painting, sharing and being so alive it takes up the streets, why not bless it. If it only means the world to you and not the words or numbers to obey it sounds like a good thing to stand behind. The world to shop or consume things that are common and not candid is more and more transparent and this could lead to refinement. I think the Mayor of chill town wants us to "be cool" this Christmas and stop getting so down on every wall or way to sell ourselves presents better had in presence. A presence better lived in streets decorated all year long. So Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night, good painting and good living something unique and real for every little voice inside and outside, every paste up, animation or stencil that we share, not in the common good associated with fame or glory, but in the Polis as it should be, in the streets and in the thoughts of freedom we all desire and share. Ho Ho HO!
Come one come all, everyone's doing their best to explain the streets in an x mas Street parade featuring; 2501, Airone, Asker, BR1, Dem, Dildo Society, El Gato Chimney, Gatto Nero, Ivan, JB Rock, Knore, Koes, Lucamaleonte, Mambo, Mr Wany, Neve, Orticanoodles, Ozmo, Pao, Peeta, Pho, Ryan Spring Dooley, Sea, Senso, Sonda, Sten&Lex, Tawa, Termine, Tvboy, Weik, Zibe, Dome (Germany), M-City (Poland), C215 (France), Conor Harrington (Ireland).

"Burgos 12 November 2009
The city council of Burgos in the Northern Spain commited me a big scale wallpainting to celebrate the Aniversary of the Cathedral since it achieved the status of Patrimony of Humanity.
The theme I had to work on had to be inspired on the theme of Paradise.
The wall was huge (20 mt wide for 8 tall) and near to the city centre.
On my arrive I have been told by Luan the organizer (big ups man ^:*)
about a local history of a Christ sculpture found beneah the sea.
So this was the final result." from TVBOY website

The Italien artist Peeta (alias Manuel Di Rita) made his first graffiti in a small town somewhere between Venice and Padua in 1993. Today, sixteen years later, Peeta's work is an inherent part in the international graffiti scene. Here, at Pretty Portal, Peeta can be seen in a German gallery for the first time.
This artists style is extraordinary: Beginning with organic conceptions in his early work, Peeta soon develops his very own typically typographic style, that is characterized by its impressive visual depth and unique 3D-composition. For some years now Peeta is, next to his wall pieces and murals, also working on canvas and sculptures. In the artists opinion those media don't exclude, they rather inspire each other. Working on a sculpture gives him new ideas for wall pieces, while on the other hand those graffiti inspire him to build the same furious forms in a sculptural way. The wall graffiti are dynamic and outstanding - the works on canvas show the same energy but with more privacy. Peeta shows his skills and experience on all areas.
Not only Italy, but also the Mecca for graffiti, New York City, influenced Peeta's work: In 2003 he became part of the FX crew of New York City and three years later he shall be a RWK crew member. At home in Padua he already was part of the EAD crew. Together with other famous international street artists (for example ecb or Loomit, both already held an exhibition at Pretty Portal) he's always looking for new projects all over the world.

APOCALYPSE WOW @ MACRO FUTURE - ROME

APOCALYPSE WOW!

APOCALYPTICS - POP SURREALISTS - CREATORS OF WORLD WITHOUT BORDERS

Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, at the same time, is also celebrated, the fall of another "wall" that has kept separate expressions, trends and styles that seemed destined to exclusion, marking the birth of the global world.

Political history and society change, and there is also a profound change in cultural movements.

APOCALYPSE WOW! reveals the shapes and the colours of pop surrealism, neo pop and urban art, current for long time kept away from the official art system, although very present in everyday of everyone life through various expressions.

APOCALYPSE WOW! Is a collective exhibition, with about 80 works, including paintings, sculptures and installations drawn from the most representative international exponents of an imaginary that links the generations in the past 20 years of epochal changes and who have lived and built the so-called globalized age.
